Mmm – sacralicious?
A Chicago restaurant is pushing the boundaries of poor taste with its October Burger of the Month.
"The Ghost" burger, named after a heavy-metal band that performs dressed like the pope and monks, features a "Communion wafer garnish." The unleavened disc bears the imprint of a cross and a crown.
Kuma's Corner, a heavy-metal themed restaurant with an "Eat beef; bang your head" ethos, says its burger is an homage to GHOST, Swedish headbangers who are touring the United States this month in support of their new album.
GHOST's new album comes complete with grape juice and a mock Communion wafer. Not coincidentally, the Communion burger at Kuma's comes with a red wine reduction.
Read - Is the 'Communion burger' in poor taste?
Being its basically making a mockery of religion. Yes. I'm not necessarily offended by it, I just wouldn't eat at a restaurant that exhibits blasphemy.
Looking back at my old Catholic days - while some might consider this in poor taste, it isn't a problem as the wafer has not been consecrated. (Back in the day, I don't remember any of them being embossed...)
"Bigoted marketing, obviously. @Peyton Christians cannot be understood by uneducated people."
There...I fixed it for you. You can thank me in a subsequent post.
Take a look at this, everyone. Your typical christian, complete with "Holier than thou" mentality!
great marketing, obviously. @Peyton Christians cannot be understood by logical people.
As a practicing Anglican Catholic, I have no problem with it. Until the wafer is blessed, it's just a wafer. What happens to it after it is blessed is a matter of my own personal beliefs, which I choose not to inflict on anyone else. How 'bout we all give that a try for a change?
I don't think it's crossing the line. This is the kind of thing that Kuma's is known for, and people go there expecting fantastic burgers and heavy metal. This is right in their wheelhouse!
I'd hit it.
Hey, the hateful Christian don't have to buy the burgers. Goes both ways. I don't have to buy Barilla products either. The company president even invited me to opt out of his products.
Nice job on stereotyping. You're pretty Christophobic. Why do you so fear that which you don't understand?
look at you showing the love of God. Lol you probably know the least out of your religion, christians are so lied to by thier own
"pushing the boundaries of poor taste." A matter of opinion.
Would equal coverage be given if some place came out with a phagburger or a dyckburget? I'm thinking not since that might "offend".
Nice work on the Christophobia...
Looks like a tasty burger if I was in the Chicago I would go and try it.
i dont think cnn is stressing enough that kumas names all their burgers after heavy metal bands. they have an iron maiden burger, a plaguebringer burger. its part of their theme and they have a new burger each month. this one corresponds with ghosts new album. people who are getting pissy about it clearly know nothing about the restaurant or are plain ignoring its a theme.
Whats the big deal? If it offends you, don't buy it! Or in my case, I would order the burger hold the wafer. If it has to come with the wafer you don't want, then throw it out! Now see, that wasn't difficult at all. Sheesh
